Responsibilities
I was given as much responsibility that i could show i could take on, leading me to being self taught on a centrally rolled out email marketing platform, sole creation and organisation of an assessment centre and numerous other tasks never normally give to an intern. I was treated like an executive.
Support & Guidance
I had a manager who provided support and guidance throughout, with a regular 1-1. The surrounding team were always there to teach, support and be there if needed.
Culture
Wonderful culture, could be myself, at ease, free to take passions and creativity where i wanted. The culture that lacks in the heart of bmw is the bureaucracy, the amount of approval stages with everything you do, leading to a lot of wasted time.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement, partly down to my team but also due to my proactiveness. It could be argued i did too much for an intern and the team requires greater capacity but that just meant the experience i gained was invaluable and treated more like a full time worker than an intern.
Yes
Be proactive. The company will allow you to sit back and not do too much if you wanted it to be that way. The opportunities after are not the best, there is no graduation programme and the scheme to return far from guarantees a job even if you are an incredible prospect.
