    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Audit fieldwork - transaction testing, bank reviews, board minute reviews, Companies House checks, financial statement drafting. Client meetings - participating in client meetings both virtually and in person. Mainly involved listening to what the manager was asking of the client and how this would impact the audit. Team meetings - joining team meetings where the managers would assign roles and identify problem areas.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Analytical - identifying if there were errors in how transactions were accounted for by the clients. Time management - I was set many tasks that all had deadlines, so managing my time was key. Communication - I have become much more confident in talking to clients, feeding back issues to the team, and networking with other teams in the office.

This has made my decision about which grad role to take a lot easier. The talks from the different partners at the firm were very insightful and being able to ask them questions was so useful at this stage of my career.
