    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was not treated as an intern in my placement. I was grateful enough to be able to be involved in real client work and contribute as much as other full time employees. As an intern, you have the freedom to choose how much you would like to get out of your placement and IBM supports you with that.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Very diverse and inclusive. There are so many communities that everyone is welcome to be a part of that hosts a variety of events and fun socials throughout the year. I also had the opportunity to participate in various events, such as school visits, mentoring sessions, and career fairs, interacting with students of different ages. Mentoring students through IBM’s giveback programs ignited a passion for passing on the technical curiosity I experienced at IBM to future students.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • My 12-month placement at IBM has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Working on diverse projects in Client Engineering allowed me to blend technical development with client interactions, which perfectly matched my career goals. This placement significantly improved my skills in AI, NLP, and front-end development, and boosted my confidence in client interactions and presentations. Networking and collaborating with various departments also gave me a deeper understanding of professional teamwork.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to IBM
  • My advice for potential applicants is to join the mailing list for timely notifications. After the initial application and passing the screening, you'll complete an online assessment. At the assessment center, prepare a 10-minute presentation and participate in a group activity. Show your problem-solving skills and teamwork. If successful, you'll enter a matching pool for final interviews with managers. Be proactive and confident throughout the process.
