Overview
Mainly, I am given work by my 'mentor' from the Career Ready programme who works in the team that I am in. I am given support as and when I need it - this of course is very helpful as it means I am never left not knowing what to do. On top of this, I have been given a project to complete while I am here at Cushman & Wakefield which I will eventually present at the end of my internship. Similarly to this, I have also completed a onboarding programme and I am also currently about half way through a LinkedIn learning course.
Skills
I've learnt a lot at the short time that I have been here at Cushman & Wakefield. Firstly, I have gained first-hand experience in being in an office/workplace environment which has also greatly improved my communication skills as the office I am working in is a friendly, social environment. As well as this, I have learnt how to use things such as CoStar or the government website to find a variety of information on different properties for example.
Responsibilities
I am given responsibility and I am pretty much independent - the workplace puts trust into me to be able to carry out tasks to a good standard. However, should I need help, I am located in the office right next to my 'mentor' who is the one who gives me most of my work therefore meaning I can very easily request assistance as and when I need it which is extremely helpful as I am never left completely alone to complete a task.
Support & Guidance
As I mentioned, I am conveniently located right next to my mentor from the Career Ready programme who is always available to offer support/help with any task if I need it. On top of this I am surrounded by other members of the same team that my mentor is on, so if he happens to not be in, I can always ask them as well. This means I am never left feeling clueless/confused and not knowing what to do - there is always someone available to offer guidance.
Culture
The company culture at Cushman & Wakefield is great. They are helpful, inclusive and sociable and as I mentioned are always happy to help out with any task I am trying to complete. On top of this at lunchtime there is a big room where people can sit down and socialise while playing a game of pool/darts or even just over lunch - overall I would say the the company culture and atmosphere is great, they are very inclusive and very friendly.
Your Impressions
I have massively enjoyed it so far, I am given work to do everyday and never feel unsure of what to do - on top of this their is a great social aspect to working at Cushman & Wakefield which I think is very helpful to new members of C&W like me for example or the rest of the interns which are also here as it makes you feel included and a 'part of the team'.
Yes
To definitely do it as it has helped me out massively and has developed a wide variety of my skills. I would also say to make sure you apply yourself as much as possible as, especially for me (a summer intern), you may not be here for very long so to make sure you get as much as possible out of it I would say is very important. Similarly to this, I would say ask a lot of questions as everyone has been happy to help me or talk to me when I have asked.
