Overview
In planning I have been completing appraisals, research for development, gone to site visits and meetings. I have been adding to consultation trackers, uploading NMAs and doing cover letters for planning statements and removals of considerations after pre-application responses. Within research I have been looking into planning histories and also comparing new and old local plans for various Boroughs. I have sat in on team meetings as well and attended networking events.
Skills
I have developed IT skills and professional letter writing. I have also learnt how to effectively research different planning applications.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was given various projects to work on throughout my time at Savills, primarily in research but also in writing applications and cover letters.
Support & Guidance
My team have been very good at informing me how to properly develop my work and what goes into planning proposals for development.
Culture
Everyone I have met within the business has been friendly and approachable and allowed me to settle in in the short period of time I have been here.
Your Impressions
I have greatly enjoyed learning about a potential career path for myself from one of the best teams possible, and I am grateful for the opportunity. The departmental overviews for other relevant interests of mine have also been excellent, in particular the graduate networking session. There has been plenty of opportunity to chat to colleagues in different departments and learn about their pathways there too.
Yes
Enter the company with an open mind and don't be hesitant to involve yourself with any and all social opportunities you can, as you are able to meet some really interesting people and learn from those who have worked in your chosen career path for a long time.
