The Role
The internship was very enjoyable and genuinely provided an accurate refelection of what trainee life in a City firm is like.
Whilst I had initially thought that I would be doing menial tasks, I was surprised to find that I could be challenged if I so requested.
The support and guidance from my trainee buddy was excellent. Much will depend on the enthusiasm of the person allocated to you and it helps if you get along but I was pleased with mine.
Surprisingly, I was very busy. The shceme is structured in such a way that stretches you for time.
Whilst some of the work I produced was used, I wasn't given that much responsibilty. Understandably, they can't give vacation students big ticket work.
I think so, they will definitely improve my ability to get things across succintly.
The Company
The atmosphere is very friendly, there is a lot to be said for being normal and I think the firm has some pretty down to earth staff. It was also very professional, no less than you would expect from a city firm.
Due to the recent merger it could have been organised a bit better, we felt like ginuea pigs at times.
Understandably, they all had things to do so I didnt really expect much one to one tuition.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
I'm still unsure, the assessments were conducted in a manner that made it difficult to guage how you did.
The Culture
I think the firm made an effort to invite similar people on to the vacation scheme. Increasingly, I notice different firms have a similar set of character traits in staff.
I live in london so wasn't too much of a commute.
Although I haven't been out in a while!
Yes, If ou want them. I's entirely up to the individual.
