Responsibilities
I was given my own individual tasks to work on throughout my internship, ranging from week long projects to some that spanned the entirety of my time at Unite Students. It was my sole responsibility to ensure the completion of these individual tasks. These projects were checked by my supervisors and I was then tasked with completing any alterations based on the prior feedback. There was both responsibility and the security of a safety net.
Support & Guidance
I received support at every junction throughout my internship, it was made very clear from the beginning that there was nothing wrong with asking for help. A weekly check in session with my supervisors gave me a platform to address any concerns, share my thoughts and discuss how each week had gone.
Culture
General atmosphere was friendly and lively, every single person whether it be someone on your team, a manager or the wider staff are more than happy to stop for a chat and answer any questions or direct you towards someone else who can. Individuality and self expression is encouraged and embraced. There was a big effort to ensure sure that the intern cohort had a strong relationship with each other as well as the placement students.
Your Impressions
From my first to my last day I thoroughly enjoyed every day of my internship. The excitement and novelty of the first few days only continued to grow as the more I learnt and the larger my responsibility became. Unite Students really makes an effort to ensure that everyone that works here feels a part of the business, whether they're here for 10 weeks or 10 years.
