Overview
I worked on my PhD project which fits into the business' plan. Along with working on the publicity side of the Research and Development department and the graduate/intern projects.
Skills
I have learnt many things about the various projects in the department and how my project fits in. And then worked on projects where I learnt new programming skills, project management skills, and on different railway topics.
Responsibilities
I was left to manage my project and report back at regular intervals. I was also given the chance to develop programs and produce talks for the publicity part of the department
Support & Guidance
There has been loads of support from colleagues at different stages in their careers
Culture
Everyone has been very welcoming and nothing is ever too much trouble. Everyone tries to work as a team and help each other with whatever they can.
Your Impressions
I have really enjoyed my internship. It has been great to see how my project fits into the work by the whole department. It has been great to learn so much more about the railway industry and be able to work on many different projects.
Yes
Try and learn about as many different parts of the business because it is firstly very interesting but also helps you meet others that may also be able to help with other projects you or others face
