  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • responsible for efficiently acquiring goods, services, or works from external sources to meet the organisations needs. This role involves developing and implementing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and negotiating contracts to secure optimal prices and service levels. Key responsibilities include overseeing the end-to-end procurement process, identifying cost-saving opportunities while ensuring ESG benefits. The role involves a number of stuff but some of these are negotiation, meeting suppliers, market research, contract analysis.

  • This experience has helped me develop several important skills, including teamwork, verbal and written communication, flexibility, adaptability, and IT proficiency. Most importantly, it has provided me with a solid understanding of how to work effectively in an office environment.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Throughout my whole placement, i was trusted and responsible for a number of projects and tenders. reflecting back on my placement experience it has been great opportunity to develop taking ownership of projects, through different experiences that Unite have put on offer.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Throughout my placement experience we were given a number of support and guidance networks. We had a placement mentor outside of our team who would provide regular check ups and training programs to support all the placement students (6 of us). I also had a line manager within my team who would meet regularly with me to offer guidance and support throughout the year. I was able to ask any question big or small.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • This was the favourite part of my placement experience. The culture at Unite students is amazing. Got the balance of formal and informal, spot on! Everyone is so approachable and amazing to speak to. They are very much a company of wanting to succeed, however don't forget to have fun and enjoy themselves along the way. Everyone works hard and has a real passion for making a difference and believe they can be apart of this!

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I loved every second of it (Don't really want to go back to university lol). Its been a great experience and gave me a great insight into what working looks like and help me carve where I want to go with my career path.

  • Be yourself. Unite students aren't looking for someone who looks great on paper. They are trying to find someone who meets the companies ethos and values. Its a great opportunity and could not recommend it to others enough!
