Overview
My daily tasks involved assisting my supervisor with one-off tasks such as drafting an email, recording minutes of a meeting, and reviewing documents. However, throughout the week, I was also given a longer task which required more time and effort and where I was given greater responsibility and independence. There were also training sessions and presentations almost every day.
Skills
I have developed my networking skills during my time here, both through the networking events and simply by meeting new people every day. I also honed my writing skills, whether that is how to draft and email or write a research note. I learnt new skills in drafting a witness statement, such as the questions asked and how to convey information in an effective way.
Business Insight
It was very illuminating to know about the firm from a business perspective as well, because you see what the firm's vision is and how they strategise accordingly.
Culture
The atmosphere was even more welcoming and friendly than I imagined. Everyone was genuinely so nice and so helpful and although everyone was different, everyone wanted to know more about you as a person. I felt very welcomed and at ease even within the first few days at the firm.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the insight very much. I expected that it would be a good experience in terms of what I would learn but it was so much more than that.
Yes
I think it is best to just be yourself. HSF really wants to know you as yourself. There is no expectation to be a certain way.
