    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I head into the office at 9 and check my emails which I need to pick up on. Once that is completed, I pick up on tasks which I need to complete for the day. Between my tasks, I tend to have several meetings during the day that I have to attend. I wrap up the day ticking off everything I've done and look at what I need to do for the next day.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I've developed a wide range of transferable skills which has benefited me. This involves: Presentation skills - The ability to create and deliver an effective presentation Excel - Managing third party clients on sales force Communication Skills - Building relationship with students in campaigns and housing fairs Canva - Editing property images Capcut - Creating content on our social media platforms

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes there was moments were I had to manage big tasks which enhanced my skills development: Led the the recruitment and on boarding process for our content creators - This felt like a crucial part during my placement year - having 100% control was a key factor to the success of hiring the best candidates for the 23/24 academic year. Participating in a focus group - Note taking

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • The support has been incredible [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] from the People team, organised several workshops for myself and the other placement students to help enhance our progression within the workplace. This includes: Presentation skills workshop Resilience workshop CV workshop All of the workshops were very beneficial and has helped me massively for the future. I received a lot of support from all my managers in Marketing, Brand and sales such as 1 to 1 or general help.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company has a friendly and positive working environment. When I first arrived at the Unite office, I was nervous but all my colleagues made me feel very welcomed which created a sense of belonging .

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I've really enjoyed my industrial placement year. I've had a opportunity to encounter different departments within the business gaining quality experience internally and externally. I have been able to build a strong relationship with my the other placement students and staff within the workplace. I have been taking control of tasks and overcoming challenges which I have thoroughly enjoyed.

  • Key advice would be : Know the role you're applying to when working with Unite Research into the history of the company Have an understanding of the people you're going to be working with
