Overview
The vacation scheme included a number of tasks from your supervisor, trainee buddy, or others from the team (usually if you ask rather than this always being the case). Common tasks included basic drafting (filling in a template with information from another document), research tasks (searching on Practical Law and Lexis+ to gather information on an obscure topic), or shadowing meetings, calls, and other team activities. There were also a number of events hosted by Early Careers including socials, presentations from various practice areas, and other sessions such as the diversity networks.
Skills
I have developed many existing skills such as my legal research, attention to detail, proactivity, and composure in a new environment. I also learned how to manage my time and prioritise several tasks.
Business Insight
Very good! We heard directly from multiple senior leaders including the CEO, former global Head of Disputes, and current global Head of M&A.
Culture
For the most part, very friendly and personable. It was clear that even the most senior of partners were invested in the vacation scheme students.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed the vacation scheme.
