Overview
I was a summer intern in audit, more specifically on financial services. I mainly covered non-judgemental tasks and aimed to help the manager and SA reduce there workload. The job mainly consisted of completing EGAs and completion tasks. The EGAs consisted comparing the financial statements of the client with a bank or another ideally independent third party to make sure the clients financial statements were true and fair. I sometimes also joined meetings with my manager about the audit however this was quite rare.
Skills
Most the new skills I learnt were audit and accountancy specific such as navigating PwCs different websites, learning in more detail what an EGA and more generally an audit actually is and what is consists of. In terms of existing skills I developed Excel would be the biggest one there due to how much I used it on the job
Responsibilities
Not loads but definitely some. Everything I did was checked over by a manager so it wasn't like my work was sent off to a client unchecked
Support & Guidance
We received three days of online training in the first week which was quite helpful. Most of my learning came from asking my manager and SA what to do. They were very friendly and were more than happy to help when I needed it. I think PwC prides themselves on having a very positive, open culture where you can ask as many questions as you want to you peers, team and anyone higher up than you.
Culture
It was great! Everyone was really friendly and more than happy to take tie out of their day to answer any questions you may of had.
