Overview
I worked with one team auditing one company at their year end. This involved completing bank reconciliations, checking invoices, doing cash cutoffs and overviewing review notes and minutes.
Skills
I’ve learnt some basic accountancy skills and developed my confidence and communication through having to directly contact clients.
Responsibilities
Yes a lot. I had to complete 3 entities cash workbooks which had to get directly signed off from the partner. I also had to go to client site and directly query the client over certain things
Support & Guidance
A lot. I had a counsellor who was very supportive and consistently checked in on how I was doing. A buddy also had a similar supportive role for me.
Culture
Friendly though quite intense at times. I think this was because we were at year end and my time was under a significant amount of pressure.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed it. I learnt many new skills within the industry and made so many good connections. It was very beneficial and I look forward to future opportunities
Yes
Just do it. Have confidence in yourself that you may have a chance at getting the role because at first I didn’t.
