Overview
Although everyday wasn't the same at Prysmian, the jobs at Prysmian would remaining the same. I was always dealing with customer enquiries, providing quotes or technical information. On the more marketing side of the role, I would be making sure that the website is update and the technical information was correct by working with the technical team. I worked on many projects throughout the year at Prysmian which I got to lead.
Skills
I developed on a lot of my current skills at Prysmian but in a more professional setting to make me a more well rounded person. The main skills were communication and organisation. Having the opportunity to go to Data Centre World to meet new customers and plan the monthly social events for the team to really improved my communication and organisation skills. It really helped me to build relationships with people better and fast that were more meaningful.
Responsibilities
At Prysmian, I was given a lot of responsibility which allowed me to build my confidence and trust, not only in myself and the decisions I made but also in my work. I had the opportunity to lead quite a few projects and meetings which was very exciting and helped me to build my knowledge of the cable and components industry.
Support & Guidance
Prysmian were very supportive during my time there. I had a lot of opportunities to train and further my skill set during my placement which will be useful for the career choose in the future. As i was not very familiar with the cable industry, everyone was very helpful and patient while i tried to to get to grips with the products and understanding what was what.
Culture
Everyone I worked with at Prysmian was very lovely and very helpful. The work culture was very professional which was good to experience. The work atmosphere was a mix of being professional and relaxed which was quite good. Having a work structure that was quite flexible allowed me to work in a time that was good for me and able to get my work done to a high standard
Your Impressions
Overall, I enjoyed my placement. I felt that I had got the most out of my placement as I could and I will be forever grateful to Prysmian and all the people I worked with that helped me along the way.
Yes
A job at Prysmian is such an amazing opportunity. You really get to experience what working life is like from day 1. There are so many ways for you to progress and grow at Prysmian that its a great company to go and work for once you have graduated as well. Being an Italy company based worldwide, you will have the opportunity to communicate with so many people worldwide as well as work on many projects that are for other parts of the world which is amazing to deal with and experience. One piece of advice I would give is make the most of every opportunity and also take initiative and create opportunities for yourself. Prysmian is so supportive and will help you to reach your goals and tailor your experience as best as they can so you can get the most out of your job.
