    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Preparing samples for LCMS and UV analysis then running these on the instruments and analysing the results.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills including LCMS, use of new technique specific software, working to GMP standards. I have also developed skills in other analytical techniques such as UV and NMR and soft skills like communication and presentation.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes I took over responsibility for specific types of analyses for different departments and I was the main point of contact for these. I also took part in lab safety checks and lab tidy tasks and helping to plan team building events. There were also chances to take on more responsibility by joining other teams and employee resource groups

  • Lots of support from my supervisor and the rest of my team and department especially when I had university deadlines. There was also other support available with the placement leads and society for placement students

  • Everyone is really nice try not to stress about your interview. It is mainly to get to know you there aren’t many technical questions and they are very nice and will help and give hints if you need it
