Overview
My role was to act in the capacity of a junior associate, for example completing Lead Schedules, preparing Audit of Notes, and other non significant FSLI related tasks. We would also participate in team meetings such as Kick-off calls, making minor contributions such as taking meeting minutes.
Skills
I have learnt new communication skills in the case of difficult conversations, for example those with a client when we are questioning the client's rationale on their actions, or when asking for evidence to support a sample. Over the course of the placement I have become more technologically proficient, advancing my skills on programs such as Excel and Aura.
Responsibilities
Throughout our placement we were given an appropriate amount of responsibility, which increased as our own experience and skills increased. Once the senior associate deemed our skills suited a new task we were assigned said task. For example after the first two weeks we were tasked with communicating with our clients and making simple requests, which later developed into challenging their judgement and asking for evidence for support.
Support & Guidance
We were given a considerable amount of support and guidance throughout the engagement, there was always a point of reference available whether in the form of FS2s or other team members.
Culture
The company culture was extremely welcoming, I felt able to communicate with everyone easily as they ensured we felt comfortable in the workplace. We were given the appropriate amount of break, especially in cases where we worked beyond normal working hours.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed the placement, and am very much looking forward to rejoining next year.
