The Role
Provided a good insight into the Corporate Banking division of RBS.
There was a good working atmosphere among the other interns. We were divided into sub groups following the introductory day, and given presentations to prepare. The group worked well and everyone had the chance to speak and was given equal responsibility.
The RBS employees who were informing us on their business areas were all very prepared for our arrival - and provided interesting presentations and tasks relevant to their business areas which was a great way of informing us.
Although the days were well structured, we were given a long time for lunch and there was quite a lot of time given in the preparation of the tasks - more than was needed.
None - as expected of an internship of this type.
Not many skills were learned, but the information will be useful in pursuing a career in corporate banking.
The Company
Pleasant atmosphere among the interns, and all of the RBS employees were very helpful and willing to talk to us.
Very well organised - had an initial information day from an outside organisation on finance in general, and then a structured week of business rotations.
Was offered a place on the second year summer internship, and given training which will be useful in the future.
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Second year internship offer.
The Culture
There was a good social scene among those who were staying in the hotel that RBS provided, going out for dinner most evenings.
High, as expected in London. However RBS gave a Lunch and dinner allowance, and paid for accommodation for those living outside the M25, and travel for everyone.
Did not have the chance to experience this.
Not during the week, however the second year internship seemed to provide a lot more opportunities outside of working hours.
