Overview
I work with the relationship managers and assistant relationship managers in the team, assisting them with anything they may need on a daily basis in supporting their portfolio of clients. With a drive towards business development, I look for new opportunities to lend money through using the FullCircl platform.
Skills
Yes, I've developed my accountancy skills through completing the workday learning activities, talking to some members of the team, and having a session with [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] from Lombard about it. I've also increased my knowledge of all the different teams in the bank, and what roles they do.
Responsibilities
Yes, once I'm given a task to do I am left alone, although the line is always open if I need help, to complete the task. This responsibility includes speaking to all members of the team to complete the task that [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] sets. I also have the responsibility of filling my days with meetings around the bank.
Support & Guidance
Lots of it. I had weekly catchups with my manager [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions], and I always felt I could contact him in the week if I needed. The team around me always made it clear that whenever I had any questions, I should feel comfortable to go to them.
Culture
Very open and inclusive. I always felt a part of the team and all members of the bank, not exclusively my team members, made themselves available to me whenever. Everyone was very friendly to each other, and a work-life balance seems to be the foundation on which NatWest functions.
Your Impressions
I had a really great time in my internship. It has given me opportunities I haven't had before, such as being part of the corporate world, as well as the chance to develop new skills and build old ones further. I've also really enjoyed the freedom I've had in getting to know the other teams in the bank and what they do.
Yes
To give your all in the internship - they don't have 8 weeks of work to give you, so it is up to you to network around the bank, and meet people who have been through the job process and can give useful advice on that.
