Overview
Working within the systems engineering team, I was responsible for helping out with analysis of ongoing testing, as well as carrying out a small independent study that investigated a specific question about the weapon system posed by a customer.
Skills
Developed my teamwork and problem solving skills, as well as improved my coding ability a lot as I came in with very limited knowledge of how to use MATLAB compared to the end of the placement.
Responsibilities
I was responsible for carrying out some specific tasks and useful research for the team, however nothing to serious or overwhelming.
Support & Guidance
Support and guidance was amazing, as everybody in the team understood I did not have a background in engineering, and were always kind available and happy to help with any problems I had. The training packs I received for my specific role was well made and very useful.
Culture
Friendly and inclusive, I felt like an important valued part of the team even from day 1
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my placement and had good time, found it extremely interesting and got a lot out of it
Yes
Go for it, definitely do not be put off if you have no engineering background if the opportunity you are applying for does not ask for it, as I never felt lacking, coming from a science background. When interviewing relax and be yourself since MBDA is a fairly relaxed company compared to most so you will look a better fit!
