Overview
Working on Middle office work for Corporate and Institutional Bank.
Skills
there was the ability to explore every area of the bank you might be interested in. Lots of opportunities to network and shadow alongside completing meaningful work.
Responsibilities
Given Tasks as if you were an analyst and your Manager was always there to provide support if need be.
Support & Guidance
From my line manager the support was amazing, always providing feedback both positive and when things didn’t go so well constructive feedback.
Culture
Very Easy going. Most colleagues clocked out at 5pm, this is uncommon in any other bank in the market. But this may have reflected everyone’s genuinely supportive atmosphere and kindness as they were always willing to help development.
Your Impressions
From a workplace side it was great, good exposure and meaningful work which helped improve my technical and personal soft skills. However Emerging Talent didn’t organise many events for Interns and were very disorganised.
No
If you're hoping to turn your internship into a full-time job, you should probably consider other options. This bank generally hires directly for the graduate program, so finding an offer somewhere else might be in your best interest. Last year, only 4 out of over 30 interns were offered full-time positions, which isn't great compared to other banks.
