Overview
My role is to use SQL/Python to prepare metrics on customer data that can be used by the business to better cater to them. In addition, we prepare dashboards for the senior stakeholders who are not data-literate, to present the numbers in an insightful way.
Skills
I have improved to a great extent, my SQL and Tableau skills during this internship. Also, I have learnt a lot about efficient teamwork, task delegation, and communication.
Responsibilities
Tasks given were keeping in mind we were interns and hence not a lot of responsibilities were attached to them - however, it did contribute to the projects of the team.
Support & Guidance
We had DataCamp access to learn throughout the internship which I used a lot. From the company side, people were always welcome to solve your problems and schedule meetings. There was a lot of focus on wellbeing and we frequently had log-off sessions as well.
Culture
The company is too focussed on wellbeing, which is good and bad at the same time. There is however, a lot of bureaucracy in the company, i.e. hundreds of manager levels above you and you will never understand the management matrix of the division you are in. Getting access to softwares takes ages sometimes, and you can't start work unless you get it. That being said, the people are very approachable here and the workplace is free of stress.
Your Impressions
Overall, I enjoyed learning new things in the internship, however, I won't want to do this full-time.
Yes
Focus on the keywords in the Job Description area during your video answers. Have a clear reason for interning here. Mention your desire for a stress-free workplace, and also how NatWest's 2050 carbon-zero goal has impressed you.
