Audit and Assurance Associate Review

The role as a placement student was very similar to a first year graduate. Assisted in the planning and execution of audit work. This involved working directly with clients in order to perform testing.

Significantly developed accounting knowledge, analytical skill, communication and time management. Developed strong excel skills and knowledge that is a requirement to be effective within the role in order to sort complex data.

Yes. We were given responsibility for our areas assigned and for communicating progress to management. We are responsible for sampling areas, requesting support and communicating with clients and performing work.

Overall the support throughout the placement was very strong. We received comprehensive training at the start of the placement, including time in college studying and completing the Accounting and Assurance ACA exams before beginning work on client engagements. We also received further training throughout the year. As well as this as a whole the culture at Deloitte is built to support junior and collaborate on work when needed.

In general the culture at Deloitte is supportive and welcoming. All team members have open communication to assist with issues and questions when needed. There are also many social events in place outside of working hours to build team connections.

Although the working hours at times are long and require overtime, in general the work assigned is manageable and i did not experience huge pressure from seniors. I found the placement transformative to develop my professional knowledge and skill. Overall, i would recommend Deloitte as a good place to complete a placement year.
