Overview
Working within the team you are placed in, learning, shadowing, and venturing into other business areas.
Skills
Yes, I have learnt multiple new coding languages, how to navigate Linux & Windows Servers and the puppet language used to maintain servers. I improved my presentation skills by attending a presentation workshops and learnt about green coding, sustainability and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was allowed to work on a code base for a internal project in the bank. I was allowed to shadow the hosting solutions team and look at the code they were writing/developing for their own business area.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support. I had a very caring, supportive manager who had regular 1-1's with me and always checked in with me on teams. I also had a graduate buddy, and everyone else around me was very supportive.
Culture
Very good, very friendly, supportive and not too intense. Everyone is really friendly and chatty, regardless of what office you work in.
Your Impressions
I have enjoyed it a lot. A lot of events were put on for interns, such as sports days, socials and many many other events. It has been so fun.
Yes
Be yourself, brush up on your coding skills and be confident. Do not hesitate to ask questions.
