Overview
My role on the Financing Solutions internship involved helping the teams that I worked with complete the tasks they needed to do. This could vary from a simple market update to research tasks, to more maths based work. I also completed desk project tasks as a part of my internship. These were more collaborative and spanned a longer time frame.
Skills
I developed my excel and powerpoint skills considerably. I also believe my communication and relationship building skills improved. My understanding of what a bank does was further consolidated and the experience as a whole was extremely educational. Other skills that I improved were my ability to adapt to change, idea generation, collaboration, and public speaking
Responsibilities
I was given as much responsibility as possible given my position as an intern and not having access to everything that those more senior did. This was really rewarding and gave me a better understanding of what a role at NatWest would look like.
Support & Guidance
I received lots of support and guidance during my internship. All my question were answered and everyone that I spoke to was more than willing to help me improve my understanding. This was something that I really appreciated as I don't have a finance background at university, so that extra time that those who I worked with gave me was extremely useful.
Culture
The culture at NatWest was amazing. Everyone was super friendly and extremely helpful. I really enjoyed the atmosphere at NatWest and I found this environment to be both professional yet also friendly.
Your Impressions
I have really enjoyed my time on this internship. The experience has been extremely insightful and educational. Everyone that I have met and worked with has treated me with respect and has taken the time to help teach me about what their role is in the bank. The social events have also been amazing and they have helped me to expand my network.
Yes
My main piece of advice would be to ask questions and to get stuck in. I feel that this has been the best way for me to learn and meet new people, whilst also developing my skills.
