Overview
The role involved the creation of different marketing assets to help STFC's Business and Innovations Team, and showcase the facilities and expertise that STFC offers to a wide range of businesses. This often included social media campaigns which would highlight attendance at events, or would be a space to showcase case studies and blogs.
Skills
I have developed existing skills in writing for different audiences, whilst gaining specific experience with B2B communication, both in writing and verbally. It has allowed me to become much more confident when presenting and articulating myself in professional contexts. I have also had a great amount of experience in project management and building campaigns, seeing them through from idea to execution.
Responsibilities
I have felt like such a valued member of my team this year, and that's because I was always treated on an equal level to my colleagues, allowing me to take up different responsibilities and tasks. I was able to make headway on independent tasks, but also managed to support my colleagues on other projects, which really helped to develop my skillset throughout the year.
Support & Guidance
I will always be grateful for the great amount of support and guidance I received from everyone in the team. I never felt afraid to ask a question, or ask for help, and this was largely due to the caring and supportive network of colleagues I had around me.
Culture
There was a good amount of work/life balance in the company culture, which allowed me to ease into an office working environment much more easily. Everyone in my office was friendly and approachable, and got on with each other, whilst maintaining a really high standard of work and output.
Your Impressions
I genuinely couldn't be more grateful to STFC, my colleagues and wider team. I have developed a huge amount, both personally and professionally, and it was a year of my life that I'm never going to forget. STFC is a fantastic place to work, network, and develop. I'm really proud of everything I've managed to achieve this year.
Yes
Give it a go! Especially if, like me, you're not 100% sure about the type of company you want to work for going forward. I'm an English Literature student so it was surprising that I ended up in a science company, but the opportunities in marketing have been incredible, and the year has massively exceeded my expectations in terms of what to expect.
