Overview
On a day to day basis I was required to analyse Local authority and Housing associations statement of accounts. this involved accountancy practice and excel knowledge. I was then required to write up a report to assess their credit rating. It did involve a lot of independent learning.
Skills
Yes I have learnt accounting and excel skills as well as expanded my financial knowledge.
Responsibilities
Yes - you don't just get busy work. you are given real work that has a meaningful impact. As such they treat you like you are a part of the team- valuing your work and contributions.
Support & Guidance
It did involve a lot of independent leaning. If you do not ask for help you won't get it. I suppose they are also testing how you approach tasks you are not familiar with.
Culture
Culture was great. Everyone was welcoming and willing to have a chat, regardless of their level of seniority.
Your Impressions
I loved it. It was the right amount of challenging and independent learning. They have a great culture and an amazing work life balance.
Yes
Be confident, approachable and put yourself out there. Make sure you do all the work you are expected to do and more. Ask for help when needed but do what you can so that your questions are specific. Make sure you chat to as many people as you can because at the end of the day they will support you when the question comes up of getting an offer to come back.
