    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • The team maintains a flat structure and apart from my buddy who supported me throughout the course of my internship to all minor requests, I was also able to turn to more senior people and receive guidance when needed. Also, even people from the broader DCM team and not from the specific line of business that I was placed in within DCM were keen on helping all the interns when required.

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I have genuinely enjoyed my internship as I was able to witness how the business works while also getting the opportunity to have much needed guidance as markets tend to be quieter over the summer. Even though it has been challenging to learn as much as I can since I was introduced to fairly new concepts, I have found the business of the team intriguing!

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Nomura
  • I would say that the hardest part is to get the first interview as the competition is really high and you have to make your CV stand out! Other than that, in the interviews it is important that one shows its true character as the fit with the team is really important for both parties. Having a genuine interest in the business you are going to be placed in helps and people appreciate curious employees that come to them with good questions.
