    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Oncology Marketing involves creating materials for HCPs and field colleagues to educate them on our medicine. Field colleagues promote our medicine to HCPs, by using our materials. It also involves planning events/meetings for HCPs to educate them on our medicine and better inform their practice of the medicines available. It involves following the brands marketing strategy to increase prescribing and disease awareness with non promotional materials

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed communication skills both on a day to day in the office and public speaking. Proactivity and taking my initiative as my confidence increased throughout the year Problem solving, finding where to get my answers when I had a project that I didn't know where to start Organisation, sometimes work load is a lot - throughout the placement I have learnt how to better manage this.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Alot of responsibility right from the start but this also increased as placement went on. Managers don't check up on project status all the time, it is up to you to progress the project and let manager know of any problems. Thoroughly enjoyed the level of responsibility I was given as felt like I was important in the business and colleagues depended on my knowledge and expertise

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement however it was stressful at times - but this made it more rewarding in the long run. I was given a lot of responsibility, which made my contribution to the business valued. I enjoyed gaining confidence throughout my placement, and the tasks I carried out/projects I got to lead on. It was greatly rewarding to see the impact I had in the disease area, and the usefulness of our materials to HCPs.

  • 7. Would you recommend Pfizer to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Pfizer
  • From doing the interview process for this year, I learnt that its best to be yourself, as companies look for who they think would be a good fit to the team. We looked at grades to begin with in the shortlisting then didnt look at them again - it was more interpersonal skills. Be confident and social, make sure to network throughout the company. Be ambitious with your applications, may as well apply!
