Overview
I worked within the PCTS team, with my primary role being tax returns and doing advisory work within the firm. I was given the opportunity to try a variety of different tasks, involving remittance analysis, POA reminders, Code of Practice 9 meetings, as well as administrative work.
Skills
I have developed my time management skills when juggling workload, as well as my ability to communicate with clients. I have also developed my knowledge of financial concepts, something I was really keen on doing as I do not come from a finance background. I have also picked up a lot of transferrable skills, particularly my skills when it comes to picking out key information from financial documents.
Responsibilities
I was given responsibility very early on within the internship, with my primary role being preparing tax returns for high-net worth clients. One notable task I was given during the internship was writing the meeting notes for a Code of Practice 9 meeting, something I did with great care as it ultimately it had the ability to really impact the client's life.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of guidance through the internship when do all type of pieces of work. The Microsoft Teams groups allowed questions, not only from myself, but from other interns to be answered with speed.
Culture
I was pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere as it was a lot more laid back than I imagined. The work culture was to complete your work to a high-standard, but to also make sure that you didn't put work before yourself.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my placement greatly.
Yes
Enjoy yourself and take the time to explore different departments. Evelyn is a very open, interconnected place and it is encouraged to make sure that you find the team you fit in best with.
