Overview
Placement project - completing Jira tasks. Learning React and editing quiz app frontend. Reaching out to colleagues when stuck and for updates about direction of project. Intern business project - research/collaboration with team to formulate idea and make presentation. Code club project (volunteering project), helping and responding to people, setting and completing tasks. Staying in contact with manager.
Skills
Yes I have learned how to use ReactJS to create an application frontend. I have learned how to use the Jira platform to organise tasks and epics. Developed my collaborative working skills, critical thinking and public presenting skills. I have used the agile methodology within the 3 main projects I have completed.
Responsibilities
Yes within each of my main projects I took responsibility for the tasks I had assigned to me. Especially within the code club project I was a tech lead for the frontend part of our application, I assigned sprint tasks, helped people complete tasks to deadlines and was imperative in coding development.
Support & Guidance
My internship was very well organised and was designed to help support me as I progressed. I had main support from my manager throughout and was my main port of call for any issue I encountered. I had support from my graduate buddy who helped me integrate within the bank well. I felt supported by all of the interns and team colleagues I dealt with
Culture
The culture is collaborative, everyone is happy to chat and support you. It was quite laid back as an intern and I could have done the bare minimum and still got an offer. I could have been challenged more. Although Natwest is keen to be ambitious and challenge the norm of how they do things
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement, I gained many skills and met many interesting and top professionals.
