Overview
summer intern across global markets. shadowing trading and sales. completing projects and tasks for the desks.
Skills
yes - coding for instance.
Responsibilities
yes - lots of opportunities to do stuff the desk do each day.
Support & Guidance
varies on a desk by desk basis, some are not very good at giving guidance and feedback but others are much better.
Culture
very friendly, feels like everyone wants to see you succeed.
Your Impressions
The internship was a great opportunity to get a better understanding of the roles in global markets, and develop my skillset. The only concern is that when compared to the other BB banks, you will not have an idea on if you are likely to receive a Graduate job until the very end of the internship whereas at other banks you tend to know by week 4/5 out of 10 what desks are hiring and it feels there is a lack of clarity and organisation on this at UBS that leads to a weird dynamic in the last few weeks.
Yes
know what is going on in markets, what interests and drives you.
