Overview
I worked with all other marketing colleagues to execute a variety of projects. My day-to-day role therefore heavily involved communication about the status of a project along with planning the future activities to ensure the project stays on track. I also had daily admin tasks and frequent check ins with my managers to ensure my workload was attainable.
Skills
The main skills I have learnt and developed during my placement year include communication, project management and resilience. These all centre around the tasks I completed throughout the year, and learning the importance of consistent communications with both internal and external stakeholders. Resilience has been crucial, as I have often needed to revaluate a problem and change direction which can often be difficult. This all feeds into the overall project management skill which I have grown immensely.
Responsibilities
The reasonability's I held during my placement year demonstrated that my team and wider colleagues could trust me to execute them successfully. The responsibility and ownership of tasks was very rewarding, and empowered me to push myself, whilst knowing there was still support around me if I felt overwhelmed.
Support & Guidance
The support from not only my manager, but from the Vision team as a whole, was significant. I would have meeting with my manager every week where we would look through my projects and deliverables, and if I had capacity to take on more tasks. I also felt confident to ask anyone in the wider team any questions I had.
Culture
The culture at Johnson & Johnson is unmatched. The people who I got the chance to work closely with, were all kind and incredible people. Although we were not in the office 5 days a week, my team still ensured to check up on each other regularly, subsequently fostering a united feeling. The culture and general atmosphere was a highlight of the placement for me.
Your Impressions
I found my placement very enjoyable due to the variety in my day-to-day activities. I enjoyed connecting with my colleagues regularly, and overall had a great experience.
