Overview
In Compliance we look at the regulations affecting day to day operations within the bank, and how these can be implemented and communicated to the different teams. This involves reviewing changes in regulations, updating company policies, training different parts of the business.
Skills
Communication skills have hugely improved, time management and independent organisational skills. Professionalism Teamwork
Responsibilities
Not too much but quite a lot given restraints in the team
Support & Guidance
We had regular check ins with our manager and team members, as well as intern cohort activities which strengthened our group. Also check ins with Early careers team every so often providing opportunities to ask questions.
Culture
In general it was very good and surpassed expectations. People were happy to give time to explain to us, and talk us through what we could find useful. Very diverse place to work in particular
Your Impressions
I found the internship incredibly helpful and really feel it has provided me with invaluable knowledge not just specific to this industry, but many other industries. The connections I have made have been much stronger and wide-reaching than I expected also.
Yes
To not try to be somebody you are not during your application to MUFG. It is good to note there is no specific type of person they are looking for, and this is actually true (not just something they say). Do research into what you are applying for, however, as it will come in very helpful.
