    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • For me, no two days are the same which I love. However a standard day would usually consist of meetings with my team and stakeholders, coffee chats and working on a project/audit. The work can involve constructing workpapers, analysing regulations and writing audit reports

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills on this internship. Firstly, the skill of carrying out an audit is something I used to have minimal knowledge on, but through the first hand experiences of finding risks, controls and carrying out testing I have developed a deep knowledge into how MUFG carry out their audits. I've developed my interpersonal skills through networking with employees, in both my team and other areas of the business.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given responsibility on my internship to meet deadlines. This took many forms, such as emailing stakeholders and submitting workpapers. This also came with lots of support from people on my team, who were always open to questions, and so it didn't feel overwhelming.

  • Please rate how meaningful the work you were doing was

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • It was always emphasised to me that no question is a silly question, and this culture meant I felt very welcome to ask questions and as a result learn more. I also was supported on my work tasks if I got stuck on something, but was never made to feel incompetent.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The MUFG culture is very flat and open. This means I got a lot of exposure to senior members of the organisation, which I really appreciated. Everyone was open and welcoming to questions.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I have loved my internship, from start to finish, as I feel it has been very well structured. The early careers team made the application process very smooth. The initial training week was engaging, lead by the amazing Rob Woods, and then my 3x3 week rotations in different audit teams have been incredibly interesting.
