The Role
It was very enjoyable being able to put university knowledge to real life situations
I was very valued and appreciated for all the hard work I put it, which makes you feel more self motivated to keep excelling day to day
My team were very supportive and readily available when needed
I had a perfect balance of being busy and being able to take regular breaks, some days were busier than others but that worked vice versa
I believe I was valued as a real team member so was given the same importance and high responsibility as anyone else who had been working there for several years
The skills I gained are most definitely skills I use and will hold on to for life, from communication to networking to normal skills of being able to use application e.g. microsoft office.
The Company
Being in a huge company, you would think that it would be very formal and strict, but it was not. It was very relaxed and flexible and made it much more comfortable to work in everyday.
Placement year at IBM was very well organised and structured, which help bridge our experience in a very positive way.
IBM, although are a huge company still give us 'little people' starting from the bottom a brilliant learning experience with time and money invested in us!
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
By working with them already, they have invested money time in to you so you are more likely to be asked back once going through the program, as I did!
The Culture
The social aspect was great, everyone was very understanding and bonded very well as we were all in the same position
I lived at home, so it was inbetween the rating above
Nightlife was very versatile, convenient links to london and areas thats had great nightlife!
There was a real community so there was plenty of opportunity
