    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Administering pensions by ensuring member details are up to date, and checking calculations, updating systems when members come to take retirement. Also communicating directly with members to answer various questions about their pensions.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Learnt lots of new skills in operating software, including learning new and managing known systems (e.g. Microsoft). Developed my skills in arithmetic and making quick and effective calculations. Also improved and practiced communication skills with colleagues, as well as customer service and being able to make a good impression so the customers and clients are happy.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes I was given plenty of responsibility but always supported and trained appropriately. When I've made mistakes they seem to have always been recoverable and picked up on by a senior, explained to me in a way that helps me learn.

    Culture

  • Working culture has been phenomenal, something emphasised by the firm since the start. They have lived up to this. Had the opportunity to partake in a firm-wide football tournament, and an Amersham-based bench ball game. Also induction with all the intern intake from this year which was thoroughly enjoyable. On top of this the atmosphere throughout all offices I have visited has been welcoming and encouraging.
