Overview
Mostly coding on a day-to-day basis, socializing with other interns, meetings with different team members. Coding: full-stack web development with Kotlin on backend and React/Typescript on frontend.
Skills
Developed skills in full-stack development and working under agile methodology, creating and raising Jira tickets myself as well as doing a release.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot of responsibility and line manager made sure to check in with me on what I really wanted to work on. I could work independently on my own project and help is always available by reaching out to any other team member.
Support & Guidance
A lot of support to begin with, more independent later on in internship.
Culture
Everyone in my team very approachable and lovely to talk with. Wider company I feel like there is a lack of formally planned intern socials.
Your Impressions
The internship truly did give me a lot of much needed insight into tech within finance. It is my first proper internship and thus taught me the most.
Yes
Play to your strengths, be nice to everyone, socialize with other interns, don't be scared to reach out to other employees/grads.
