    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I worked within the product branch of commercial banking, specifically within the core onboarding team. We worked on improving the systems and processes behind onboarding new commercial customers. Day-to-day, I worked with Excel, created reports, and attended multiple meetings.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I definitely learnt new skills and developed existing skills. I was encouraged to present my work in multiple scenarios both to one individual and within a 100-person call, which greatly improved my confidence and presentation skills in aspects such as talking speed and clarity. I also learnt much more about using Excel, such as how to make tables. I don't use Excel in my degree, so this was very useful for my learning.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, I was given a lot of responsibility. I was encouraged to take control in situations such as in presentations, and I was also given my own work stream that I worked on throughout my internship, that contributed to a bigger project . Even though this was quite independent work, I was still offered a lot of support so I never felt stressed or abandoned.
