Overview
My role involved working on three separate projects over the course of 8 weeks. The projects varied between Software Engineering projects and group projects with other branches within the bank. Daily, I would join meetings within my allocated team within the bank as well as sessions organised by the Early Careers team to help us navigate the bank and our teams better.
Skills
Yes, I had the opportunity to learn lots of new skills within my team as I had never done software engineering before. I also got to learn graphics skills through my different group projects. There was also opportunities to develop soft skills through interactive workshops and modules.
Responsibilities
Yes, I got to have responsibility within many different business areas as well as the ability to make an impact within the projects I was working on, as they were inter-led based off instructions.
Support & Guidance
As much as I was wanting. There were a lot of people which we had the chance to interact with and as for help from. Everyone was assigned a graduate buddy and a manager so these were our first point of contact. They were always available to provide support.
Culture
The company culture is very inclusive and is strongly angled towards providing help and nurturing talent. There are so many growth opportunities which we are encouraged to engage with. The office atmosphere is a good balance between relaxed and hard-working.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed it and had a great time at NatWest. It was a really great learning opportunity and has allowed me to develop a lot of my skills. Although it was really challenging, it still stayed enjoyable throughout the most part. Every body there wants to see you thrive and do well.
