Overview
Rotated in structured rates trading and credit syndicate. Role revolves around helping team in automating daily tasks but mostly the individual project we are required to complete as interns. It gives opportunity to fully showcase your skillset and motivation to join the team. Shadowing people is also another important part of the internship, to fully see and experience what a day in their work lives looks like.
Skills
I learnt new coding skills and new macro economic concepts in both my desks. I could experience both a rotation in the primary market and one in the secondary market so to give a more comprehensive view of financial market, from issuance to trading. I could learn more on structured products and understand how the math is applied in a day to day basis, really interesting.
Responsibilities
Not really, in the sense that I had to focus more on my personal individual project that actually helping in daily activities - I guess it's hard to assign to an intern the management of a trading book, as I think is understandable.
Support & Guidance
It really depends on the desk you are in but I was lucky with both rotations and even busy traders could (most of the time) take some space in their day to explain new concepts and help you understand what is going on.
Culture
I really enjoyed the markets culture, it's really the one made for me. Dynamic, challenging, stimulating. Everyone is nice and available.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my internship and hope to come back in the future
