    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Using C# to build models of the energy market and to help present data by creating data presentation websites. This involves data analysis in c#, web development to produce a clean user interface, and interactions with databases to store and collect data.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed lots of technical skills working at LCP Delta. Extensive C# training was provided in the role, a key differentiator to many internships. In my project data collection involved working with AI so I have improved knowledge of prompt engineering. Furthermore, I have built on my knowledge of databases, excel and web development. Problem solving skills are essential for the role and this is something that the role has instilled in me.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a project which was a bit aside to the work of most of the team, but had potential uses across many departments and even wider among the firm. Typically the projects are the sort of things that the team would like to do, but don't have the time to, and so they're often really forward thinking and exciting. While this doesn't directly translate to responsibility in the team, it is definitely work that people take keen interest in

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Support was ample, in both regular scheduled meetings and more informal ways. Everyone is very approachable and the firm has a good culture, so people are more than willing to help without fear of it impacting their performance. The training was also very complete and successfully transformed me into someone who didn't know any C# to someone who feels confident using it every day.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Everyone is very friendly and relaxed, and there is a clear sense of team. People are more than willing to help each other without worrying about how it affects their individual performance. There are regular socials, and a real open door culture where you are able to easily and frequently talk to people who hold higher positions in the office to you.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the placement I did. The work I was given was meaningful and fulfilling, and it was great to feel like I was being useful to the firm. I was given lots of opportunities to present and talk with people from all sorts of levels of seniority and backgrounds. The culture is very welcoming and is definitely a firm I would recommend to people.

  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Lane Clark & Peacock
  • Potentially there is a larger software component than their job descriptions might suggest, but this is not an issue because their training is so extensive and everyone is so happy to help. Its a great place to develop problem solving skills with a young but knowledgeable team that will be supportive
