Overview
Began with an induction and presentations from across the business. Then I joined the Direct Lending team in private credit. Tasks I completed included: - Working on live deals - Credit analysis - Financial modelling - Writing credit papers - Attending credit committees - Data analysis, investment performance analysis - Attending meetings
Skills
Improved my excel skills. Learn how to do credit analysis and financial modelling. Vastly improved my knowledge of Direct Lending with extensive exposure to all aspects of the role.
Responsibilities
Given extensive responsibility across all tasks completed during the internship. It felt like I was immediately part of the team.
Support & Guidance
A good level of support during my time on the Direct Lending team but it was not extensive. I was expected to already have a good level of financial knowledge so I could immediately start contributing with little initial guidance. My manager and other colleagues were available to help if needed, for example for any specific questions, but everyone was very busy with their normal jobs.
Culture
Extremely nice culture. Everyone is very kind and helpful, good to talk to, and open to making time for chats. Very relaxed and supportive atmosphere.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it a lot. The company culture is very nice and supportive. I learnt a lot during the internship and significantly developed my skills. There was plenty of opportunities to network across the business and learn more about the industry.
Yes
Personality and attitude are more important than existing knowledge.
