Overview
I was helping the actuarial teams with their regular tasks getting hands on experience with work in actuary as well as worked on multiple projects, raging from solo projects to group projects. Besides that, I had many opportunities to develop new skills and obtain new knowledge through services provided by the company.
Skills
I developed my already existing skill of working with python, as I had some experience in it before but not on such level. I also got more proficient in Excel, through the workshop provided by the company. I got the opportunity to get familiar with Algorithmic Trading, Financial Modelling and Power BI as well, which were newly obtained skills.
Responsibilities
I was given responsibility of completing regular tasks, as well as responsibility of developing new tools that will be used at the company in the future.
Support & Guidance
My manager provided me sufficient guidance which made my time at M&G enjoyable and without complications. When there was a problem I could not resolve by myself, I was able to contact people who would help me or at least guide me to the solution.
Culture
Atmosphere was very relaxed and inclusive. People and other managers were happy to talk to you, despite being only an intern. There was good work life balance as well, i was not expected from us to do any overtime.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my internship mainly due to having the opportunity to work on solo projects that enabled me to work in a creative problem solving environment in a team that is not purely financial.
