Overview
Building my understanding of the fund through attending client presentations and conducting my own research using Bloomberg. Then applying this knowledge to answering client questions and updating key documents for the fund. At the end of my internship I then presented back to the team on what I learnt about the fund and the business area.
Skills
A completely new technical skill that I have learnt is using the Bloomberg Terminal. As for soft skills I have developed my communicating and presenting skills the most.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was given a lot of responsibility during the internship which allowed me to experience the different aspects of the role I was in. It was especially rewarding seeing my ideas be implemented into the final product being delivered to clients.
Support & Guidance
Great support and guidance. The goal of my tasks was communicated clearly and I always got detailed explanations to any questions I had.
Culture
Very welcoming and kind environment where everyone is approachable regardless of their position in the firm.
Your Impressions
I have really enjoyed it. I learnt a great amount about the the different roles in asset management and feel much more prepared for entering a job after university. I have also met so many great people in the firm throughout the 8 weeks.
Yes
Use the opportunity of being an intern to meet loads of people and ask any questions. You aren't expected to come in with previous financial knowledge/experience so use it as a way to learn as much as possible.
