Overview
As an intern, I was helping prepare client documentation and ad hoc tasks like data inputting and operating insurance broking systems. Alongside the team tasks, I was doing research for my group project and producing a powerpoint for the end of the internship, which we would present to other interns and senior colleagues.
Skills
The role gives a lot of independence and responsibility, allowing you to feel like a regular employee rather than an intern. I learnt how to be a better active listener (acknowledging client needs and providing solutions), tailor my conversations depending on person, and completing group project work alongside daily tasks. This allowed me to multi-task in a corporate environment.
Responsibilities
We were given tasks which full-time employees would complete on a daily basis, encouraging us to integrate into our teams more.
Support & Guidance
Monumental amount of support and guidance from a variety of seniority levels in the company, providing industry-specific advice and life advice. The advice I received will forever impact my behaviour and attitude in the corporate world.
Culture
WTW has a fantastic culture, everybody is very friendly and inclusive. Colleagues in different teams treat you equally. It is also a very diverse company in terms ethnicities, nationalities and academic backgrounds. WTW arguably has the best culture in the insurance broking industry.
Your Impressions
The company and employees could not have been better in terms of knowledge, experience and inclusivity. I recommend this internship to anyone interested in insurance.
