Overview
I worked in Group Tax, ensuring the business remains compliant with HMRC guidelines. Using software, such as Excel, Power BI and SAP, I conducted data analysis to gain detailed information and identify discrepancies between systems. Researching and delivering presentations was also a significant part of my role.
Skills
I learnt how to use different types of financial software. I also improved soft skills such as communication, collaboration, adaptability and presentation skills.
Responsibilities
I was given a moderate amount of responsibility, with opportunities to work on important projects but with the support of my line manager and entire team.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support and guidance during my internship, through avenues of my line manager, grad buddy, wider team and emerging talent. There were many workshops dedicated to improving soft skills as well as access to LinkedIn Learning and My Learning Campus.
Culture
The company culture was very relaxed and supportive. It was a comfortable environment to ask questions and make mistakes, focusing on your development. There was also flexibility in hybrid working.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it a lot.
Yes
Focus on their core values, research about all their business units and purpose, and show a willingness to learn - you don't have to get everything right from the beginning.
