Overview
I worked as an Assistant Energy Propositions Analyst. I was part of the Propositions team, who are tasked with proposing new products and tariffs which can by brought to market and sold to domestic customers. I mostly conducted market research analysing competitors and how their products compared to what British Gas had to offer e.g. PAYG tariffs, storage heater tariffs etc. I would communicate this data through presentations and reports.
Skills
In particular, I have developed strong teamwork and communication skills, with the remote nature of my work requiring an adjustment to virtual teamworking and communication, something I'd never previously experienced. Furthermore, I adjusted to a professional, corporate environment for the first time. Naturally, I learned and developed skills in software such as PowerBi.
Responsibilities
I was given a chance to have responsibility over a number of projects delivered to my manager and my team. I also played a supporting role in producing documents for the wider commercial team, working in collaboration with Propositions team members. Overall, I was satisfied with the level of responsibility afforded to me.
Support & Guidance
I was provided with ample support from a variety of people. My team and line manager were very supportive and helpful in all that I did, and the graduate talent managers were similarly helpful for more general matters.
Culture
I really enjoyed the culture within my team, I felt welcomed and part of the team from day one. The internship felt a little hand-holding at times but overall the internship team were excellent and made it an easy transition into the corporate world.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the internship, in particular I really enjoyed the people, with my team all excellent. I enjoyed all of the tasks I worked on and it was beneficial to my proffessional and personal development. Sometimes there was a slight lack of work but that was okay, good training resources were available.
Yes
Be flexible to relocate unless you significantly prefer remote working, I always felt more productive and enjoyed myself more whilst working in office.
