Overview
The role involved learning from full time engineers in the modelling sand analysis team about the Distribution System Operator (DSO). They really made me feel part of the team and I given the opportunity to dive into work that befitted the team in real time. All the engineers were very welcoming and helpful when I had questions and my Line manager was the best.
Skills
I’ve learnt so many skills- how to use the National grid asset management and queries database ‘CROWN’. I’ve learnt to use load flow programs such as IPSA 1 and 2 which assess the impact of new distributed connections such as solar panels and wind farms - and so much more
Responsibilities
Yes I was given several responsibilities that made me feel like part of the team and also feel like I’m contributing.
Support & Guidance
Any time I had questions or needed help- the engineers and early careers team were always there to lend a hand or answer any questions.
Culture
Everyone is very welcoming and helpful - great atmosphere to work in
