Overview
Liaised with my supervisor, trainee buddy and other members of the team to see what work they needed help with that day. Sat in on meetings and took minutes. Involved in business development. This included networking with clients, helping to host client training sessions, etc...
Skills
I developed: Organisational skills Attention to detail Time management Prioritisation Communication Legal research I learnt the skill of client interaction and team collaboration in a legal environment.
Responsibilities
Yes much more than I expected. I was given tasks that would be expected of trainees or even someone at around 1PQ level.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support and guidance. Everyone in the office was very approachable and it felt easy to ask individuals about any questions or queries I had about some work that I had been tasked with.
Culture
It was laid back but remained professional. This can be reflected by the "dress-for-your-day" policy. Everyone is very sociable and friendly, but there is also a formal environment so everyone remains productive.
Your Impressions
I very much enjoyed my internship. It was very insightful to work in a professional legal environment and understand what the job of a commercial lawyer is like from day to day.
